Originally a limited edition espresso, Gary's Rx will forever reside in my offerings list as an homage to my dear bud, muse and former assistant roaster, Dr. Gary Monzon, who passed in February, 2024. A practicing anaesthesiologist his entire medical career, he was a relentless tinkerer by nature and not surprisingly, the quest to prepare the perfect espresso shot held great appeal. Together with his kitchen gear we tweaked recipes until the cows came home. Since I put it on the menu 4 years ago it has consistently garnered thumbs up. Comprising individually roasted and post-roast blended beans from Central America (usually organic Mexico) and Ethiopia (washed and natural process), it is a solid fit for any espresso machine and easy to dial in for a creamy, complex and full-bodied shot.
